“DJ G has worked at Addington School as a peripatetic DJ for a year. He works at the school every Friday for 2.5 hours working with small groups of students to develop their DJ skills. Previous to this he came in to run workshops for larger groups of students.
DJ G has always shown a great natural understanding of the young people he has worked with here. He adjusts the sessions to meet their individuals needs and is aware of the pace of progression. He is extremely knowledgeable about the music he uses to DJ and chooses music for our students which is both appropriate and has a positive message. He is always keen to help with extra events and offer advice on kit and technical issues.
I would completely recommend DJ G to anyone who wishes to run DJ sessions at their school or organisation.

I have known Gary Smith-DJ G for over 30 years in the capacity as a friend then as his Pastor for 6 years.

DJ G is our PR officer in our local church; he has mentored the youth in our local church and has helped to develop their skills in Dj-ing.
He’s a very genuine person he enjoy music and love doing DJ since he was in his youth.
He is very good at communicating to the youth through his music and has the skill of listening and relating to them.
He is passionate about working with young people through his DJ skills and will use every opportunity to teach them what influence music can have on their life.

DJ G is a people person he is very good at what he does, especially at mixing, he will spend time doing this, until it is perfect.

Gary Smith- DJ G has worked with us at the Warriner School for the last year. He has been involved in leading assemblies. He has shown himself to be capable at presenting his message in a lively and interesting way, but in no way could he be accused of proselytising. He is popular with both students and staff; everyone always looks forwards to Gary’s assemblies.

He has also participated in Religious and Moral Studies lessons. In one noteworthy lesson, when he talked about the work he and his church are doing amongst young people, he kept the Year 10 Vocational Group (a challenging group of youngsters!) happily interested for an hour. At the end of that time they still wanted to know more! As well as talking about his work he also answered their many and various questions in an open way. Prior to the lesson he produced a worksheet that the students were able to use to produce some written work for their ASDAN folders. All in all it was a very successful lesson and we will definitely be inviting him back to do a repeat performance with the next Year 10 Vocational Group.
We are hoping that Gary will be able to come into school during the lunchtime from time to time in order to lead a workshop on the skills of being a successful DJ. The aim of this would be to find a useful and interesting activity to occupy some of our less-motivated students during the lunchtime.
I highly recommend the work that Gary-DJ G is doing amongst the student body at the Warriner School.

Here are Some of the Future Superstar DJ’s

Gary Smith, aka DJG, streamed the set online from his Bicester home between 7pm on Friday and 7pm on Saturday, playing nearly 500 house tracks and receiving almost 400 hits.

He raised almost £100 during the set itself but hopes the total will be rise to about £1,000.
The BBC Radio Oxford DJ, who presents The Urban Gospel Experience on Sunday nights, said he had acted after seeing news images of the disasters.

He said: “I saw the devastation and I wanted to do something. The only thing I can do fairly well is DJ.

“The hardest part was between 9am and midday on the Saturday.

“I felt like I was in a dream state at one point and everything slowed down.

“People were sending me messages from all over the world. That kept me awake.”

Japan was hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami in March, while New Zealand suffered a serious earthquake in February.

Mr Smith added: “The disasters could have happened to anyone. Just imagine losing everything you have got in a matter of seconds. It’s scary.”
